(9 Jan, 2015) In the Mobile Friday Social last month, we were pleased to have David Ip and Ricky Chu to share with us the tactics in growing the sales from Mainlanders by SEM and the mobile trends in 2015.

Mr. Ip manages the global advertising unit for Qihoo 360 (NYSE:QIHU), which is the sole overseas advertising agent of the Qihoo 360’s search engine, so.com.

So.com is the most robustly growing search engine in China. Its market share surged from 10% in December 2012 to near 30% in February 2014 while its prime competitor Baidu drastically shrank from 72% to 55% over the same period of time. It is expected to go on expanding rapidly.

Mr Ip sharply pointed out the distinctiveness of Mainland search engines and the characteristics of Mainland customer behaviors.

Specificity and results of wide variety of paid search ads were lively exemplified with globally renowned brands, such as Volkswagen, Four Seasons Hotel, and KFC.

More valuably, he unveiled some tips with us on search ad budget allocation.

The other guest speaker, Mr Chu, the Chairman of Hong Kong Retail Technology Industry Association and the CEO of the Gravitas Group, envisioned the mobile marketing hits in 2015, including the advanced O2O interactive elements and the futuristic wearable gadgets that would transform customers’ engagement to the next levels.

We believe that the above insights have benefited our fellow marketers in finetuning the marketing strategic plans in this beginning of new year. Don’t hesitate to talk to us if you would like to have detailed recap.
